I chose lots and lots of luscious things at the yarn trade show. And I am thrilled to announce that (yea!) they have started to appear on my doorstep.

The first to arrive is not a yarn, but a wonderful new set of knitting needles. Called Denise Interchangeable Needles, it is a kit with every needle from size 5 to size 15. I first learned of the product from Sally Melville, whose books The Knit Experience and The Purl Experience have many aficionadas among us. I figured that if is recommended by the best seller author of knitting books ever, it is probably worth checking out. IDenise Knitting Needles was right.

The kit contains 10 pairs of needles, either circular and straight. The needles come in variable lengths, with stitch holders included. Their handy storage case case is plastic and the needles themselves are resin, so they are totally airline safe — not to be taken for granted in this day and age.

I am using these needles on my current projects, and I can tell you that the join is smooth, the needles are light and they warm to the touch, and they have just enough flexibility with plant fibers like cotton and linen, which are notoriously less malleable to knit with.

The story of this company is wonderful; I know you'll like it. Denise Needles has been around for years. However, quality control had begun to slip, and the aging owner had pretty much given up marketing. Then a long-time user, Linda Krag, went looking to buy another set. She wound up buying not just the needles; she bought the company!

That was a year and a half ago. Today, Linda and her daughter Emily run the business. They have found a new manufacturer, and have significantly improved the join and durability of their needles. The quality is so much improved, in fact, that they now offer a guarantee.

The kit sells for just $500 pesos. When you figure that one pair of Addi Turbos is $90, and one pair of bamboo needles is $220, while this kit has 10 pairs ... well, you do the math.

Oh, and the slogan of Denise Needles? "Relax. We're all here."
